Sharing has never been this easy!

Today’s release is aimed at making it even easier for you to keep your contacts up to date. The status update box on the homepage now has three icon options – “Message”, “Paste link”, and “Job ad”. On top of that, users can enter up to 420 characters rather than the previous limit of 140, meaning that links can now be displayed in full again. We’ve also retained the option to post status updates simultaneously on Twitter.

We’ve now made things easier when it comes to adding links as you can simply click on the “Link” icon, enter the link you want to share, and then add a comment if you want to. An automatic preview of any articles and videos you link to will then appear so you can check the content and layout before actually posting.

MINI job ads – Free vacancy advertising option

XING members often use status updates to let their contacts know about current vacancies. Our new “Job ad” icon (beta) is a free and easy way of letting users know about vacant positions. Here, you can enter up to 200 characters and share ads with your direct contacts. That way, you can harness the power of your network as your direct contacts can then share your ads with their direct contacts, and so on. Anyone who clicks on a MINI job ad will then be redirected to XING Jobs where they can view the ad in full. All ads are automatically deleted seven days after publication. Unlike our TEXT, LOGO, and DESIGN ads, MINI job ads cannot be found by carrying out a search and will not be suggested to members whose profiles match the criteria specified in the ad. That way, MINI ads are great for small companies or self-employed entrepreneurs looking to hire someone or get help for a project from among their own contacts.
