I believe you should really give a notification of the renewal of the account before you do the automatic renewal and then threaten with a collection agency if it is not paid. To me this is not a good business model, and just brings your company in a bad light.

However, a XING membership is a subscription, similar to a newspaper.
As with many subscriptions, you have to actively declare your intent of discontinuation within a certain period of time.
