1. Your profile: Fill in your profile completely, and you’ll rise to the top of search results. Especially important are your “Haves” and “Wants”  – many people use the Powersearch to find contacts this way. Try to avoid generic terms such as “Contacts”.
  2. Use the “About me” to tell more about yourself or post an image (see my earlier post for more information).
  3. Groups: Stay in the loop on what’s being discussed, and subscribe to complete threads or  individual articles – never miss an important discussion again!
  4. Jobs: Set up a search alert and receive an email as soon as new jobs come in
  5. Status message: Let your network know what you’re doing, what you’re thinking about, whether you need support or have excess capacity – status messages show your network you’re active, and remind contacts to stay in touch with you
  6. Use RSS feeds to keep a record of news  – subscribe to “What’s new in my network” and Visitors to your profile with a feedreader, and you can archive the information.
  7. Your home page – the window to your network: Want to know who was looking at your profile while you were on holiday? Change the look of your home page by moving the boxes where you want to have them.
  8. Do you want to be able to send birthday wishes or a standardized text for a contact request or group invitation more quickly? Try using Phrase Express.
