Naturally, the launch of the OpenSocial infrastructure and the automatic notification of new job offers are themes that dominate at the moment, written on every project management whiteboard in large letters and circled twice. But at the same time our programmers have been carrying out a number of improvements, which – though written in smaller letters on said whiteboards – make networking on XING more comfortable. This week, those improvements are in the areas of messages and events.

More Guests

How inviting: The limit on the maximum number of invitations to an event that can be sent to non-XING members is now set at 1,000 instead of 100. In addition, you can search your personal contacts for people to invite with the help of a new default drop-down-menu “Name, Company, and tags”.

Speaking of tags: If you’ve been using keywords, you might have noticed that the use of tags has now been harmonized with the rest of our platform. Until now it wasn’t possible, when combining numerous keywords using the logical operatives AND or OR, to separate these with a comma. Now it is.

More Messages

For many days it has been possible to send XING messages to multiple recipients – now we have included an explanatory note. More importantly: The pull-down-menu on the message viewing page now includes the default “Delete”, so this frequent action can be carried out with one less click. We have also deleted the option “Mark as read”, which makes no sense for messages in your Outbox.

And, to the particular delight of all intensive networkers, who urgently needed the opportunity, mentioned above, to send event invitations to a thousand people via email: An adjustment to the design of our new header means that the display of over one hundred unread messages is once again error free.
