Why are you on XING, anyway? Obviously to network with your colleagues, business partners and contacts, or to make new contacts. Our goal here is to support you to the fullest. Using the company profiles, groups or the display and search functions in your contacts’ contacts is one way to make this incredibly easier. Wouldn’t it be even better if network s and companies who you likely know would be conveniently suggested based on your profile? Without you having to fill out all sorts of search criteria?
That’s exactly what we are doing now with “Members you may know”, available for all XING members starting today. We have already tested this feature with some 50,000 beta users and got extraordinarily positive feedback from them. My team and I were thrilled. I have been working as a Product Manager for over five years, and it makes everyone happy when a product catches on with users right away.
How does the “Members you may know” algorithm work? Well, the program analyses your current and former work colleagues, members who attended the same high school as well as those who especially know a lot of your contacts. The combination and permanent refinement of this analysis tool increases the probability that you actually know the members being suggested. “Members you may know” is accessible from your start page – if you cannot see it yet, use “Customize start page” to add the infobox to your start page. If you want to see more suggestions, click on the “more” button in the lower-right corner of the infobox. You’ll then see the Powersearch page, and can directly add members to your Contacts.
I look forward to your feedback. Please add your comments here in the blog or in the XING GroupXING Group.
