Cutting edge research on social networks

I stumbled across this interesting research report conducted by Wildbit, a web solutions company. It is refreshing to read a balanced view about a number of diverse social networks, including openBC. I found the references to openBC interesting, especially the parts about how you can control who you connect to and the degrees of separation tool, showing how far a person is away from you.
